- IEE Series 2023 is organising a Charity Golf Tournament event, where its proceeds will be donated as scholarships to universities with specialised engineering departments.
- Themed “Towards Industrial Sustainability” this Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative is anticipated to function as an investment in bolstering sustainability within the industrial sector by utilising education as a pivotal asset to propel the advancement of the Indonesian nation.
Jakarta, September 3, 2023 – Indonesia Energy & Engineering Series 2023 (IEE Series 2023) consistently upholds sustainability values as fundamental principles to promote even distribution of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Indonesia. Held at Royale Jakarta Golf Club Halim Perdana Kusuma in East Jakarta on September 3, 2023, the “Towards Industrial Sustainability” themed Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program serves as a platform to expand networks and establish relationships among buyers, exhibitors, and invited guests from various sectors present at IEE Series 2023. This gathering provides an opportunity for attendees to meet, exchange ideas, and discuss the implementation of sustainability in the energy and engineering sectors. And aligned with this, the Golf Tournament is a part of Pamerindo’s commitment to support sustainability from the education side, where a portion of the funding and profit generated from this golf tournament will be given as scholarships to the young engineers of two prominent Universities, University of Indonesia, and Pertamina University.
Lia Indriasari, Event Director of PT Pamerindo Indonesia (part of Informa Markets Asia), stated, “In the Charity Golf Tournament, which serves as a pre-event activity to IEE Series 2023, we aim to encourage the attending guests to ‘give back’ to the society, particularly to the education sector. We hope that the scholarships derived from the proceeds of this event can be a long-term investment in realising a more prosperous and globally competitive future for Indonesian industrial sector. Through the theme ‘Towards Industry Sustainability,’ we intend to foster discussions and networking among industry players, the national government, academia, and other stakeholders to collaboratively accelerate the implementation of sustainability within the industry sector, while also triggering a chain reaction in other sectors.”
Bestowing scholarships represents an investment and a valuable resource that demands ongoing care. This responsibility isn’t solely the government’s; the private industrial sector too can contribute to educational sustainability through this avenue. The forthcoming scholarships hold the potential to be an investment in shaping Indonesia’s trajectory, equipping it to warmly embrace the era of the Indonesian Golden Generation by 2045. In this envisaged period, approximately 70% of Indonesia’s population is projected to fall within the productive age bracket (15-64 years), while approximately 30% will be categorized as non-productive (under 14 years and over 65 years).
Investing in education also helps prepare the younger generation for Indonesia’s transition to Net Zero Emission (NZE) by 2060, both in terms of foundational knowledge and skill honing that can be initiated as early as possible. Indonesia’s Net Zero Emission (NZE) target is a collaborative effort that requires contributions from various parties through sustainable investments to prepare for 2060. This Charity Golf Tournament initiative is expected to serve as a catalyst for the implementation of various such investments.
Djoko Siswanto, Secretary-General of the National Energy Council, also expressed his support for this event. “Hopefully, charity events like this can continue to thrive. May all participants and parties involved in the exhibition and seminar at Indonesia Energy & Engineering Series 2023 take part in supporting the growth of Indonesia’s economy towards a better future. We understand that IEE Series 2023 will not only gather oil and gas companies, but also renewable energy companies. Indonesia has set a target to achieve 23% Renewable Energy usage by 2025, so I hope this event can accelerate the achievement of our target,” he explained.
The Charity Golf Tournament event welcomed a gathering of 160 invitees, encompassing delegates from exhibitors, buyers, and other esteemed guests representing the Indonesian government and prominent corporations within Indonesia. Noteworthy attendees, closely aligned with the event, includes the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), the National Energy Council, PT. PLN (Persero), PT.
